Maintenance of ISUZU Compactor Garbage Trucks

May 22, 2026

Proper maintenance of ISUZU compactor garbage trucks ensures reliable operation, extends their service life, and prevents costly breakdowns. The following guidelines cover the chassis, engine, hydraulic system, and routine maintenance procedures.

1. Chassis and Engine Maintenance

All maintenance procedures for the chassis and engine components must be strictly followed as specified in the chassis owner's manual. This includes regular oil changes, filter replacements, and inspection of belts and hoses. Following the manufacturer's maintenance plan is crucial for maintaining the truck's core driving performance.

2. New Truck Break-in Period Precautions

During the new truck break-in period (1,500–2,500 km, up to 900 lifting or pushing unloading cycles), always operate at 70% of the rated load capacity. Never slam the accelerator pedal when unloading. This gentle approach allows moving parts to be properly positioned and prevents premature wear of the engine and hydraulic system.

3. Hydraulic System Maintenance

All hydraulic oil should be replaced after the hydraulic cylinders have completed 300 working cycles. 1. **Drain the old hydraulic oil completely from the hydraulic oil tank by unscrewing the drain plug, then fill with new oil through the top filler port.** Start the engine and test each cylinder twice to ensure reliable operation. Additionally, replace the high-pressure hydraulic hoses every two years. Replace immediately if cracks, visible damage, or bulging are found on the hose surface. Regularly check the hydraulic system for leaks; repair or replace any leaking seals immediately.

4. Lubrication and Daily Cleaning

Use automotive lithium-based universal grease (GB5671-85) at all lubrication points. Apply the grease gun to the joint and pump until fresh grease is squeezed out of the gaps. After daily work, thoroughly clean the entire truck's interior surfaces, compaction chamber, and tamping device. Regularly check the hydraulic oil level, add lubricant to all moving parts, and apply a thin layer of lubricant to each rail surface to prevent rust and reduce friction.

5. Regular Inspection and Adjustment

Regularly check and adjust the gear oil pump's operating pressure. Inspect the oil filter—remove surface debris or replace the filter if necessary. Always follow the recommended hydraulic oil change intervals. These proactive checks ensure smooth operation of the compression system and prevent unexpected malfunctions in the collection route.
